The role
The School of Chemistry are recruiting for a Senior Research Associate to work in the Research Group of Professor Varinder Aggarwal.
What will you be doing?
The primary research responsibilities will be to oversee the research group and provide assistance in the ongoing projects particularly in the broad areas of reactions and homologation of boronic esters and boranes, photoredox chemistry and strain release chemistry. Applications of the methodology in total synthesis are also being explored.
The role holder will work closely with Professor Aggarwal and be involved in providing safety support, technical training, induction as well as pastoral care when required. The role holder will also assist in the preparation of grant applications, papers, and reviews and will assist in proof reading of reports and theses.

In order to apply, you will have a PhD in Organic Chemistry or equivalent professional experience in the research area required and recent experience in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. You will have taken the lead in projects and have a track record in managing research to a successful outcome. You will also need to be able to demonstrate an ability to lead small teams in pursuit of challenging goals and have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
