Are you a Business Analyst using process automation tools everyday?

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our Software Engineering team within the IT and Digital Directorate (IT&D).

Embedded within our Robotic Process Automation (RPA) team, you will primarily be engaged in the discovery of new use cases for process automation, liaising with subject matter experts within other directorates to gain a deep understanding of processes, and working alongside development teams to articulate and refine requirements in order to develop solutions using the Blue Prism platform.

About the Team:

You will join our Software Engineering team that manages a varied range of systems, encompassing a broad spectrum of technologies and solutions servicing all aspects of the University. Our diverse team comprises of Engineers and Analysts across our divisions with unique skillsets and subject matter knowledge.

We work in a hybrid manner, and are on-site one day a week, this day being Thursday.

About the role:

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will:

  • Document functional and non-functional requirements to deliver tangible business outcomes within an agile delivery environment
  • Discover new use cases for process automation within other Professional Services directorates of Manchester Met
  • Articulate the business value to be gained through the automation of manual processes
  • Drive high quality requirement capture through the use of outcome focused 3-Amigos sessions, working closely with developers and testers
  • Develop, train and support sprint team members in documenting effective requirements
  • Identify, communicate and manage risks within analysis and implementation phases of delivery
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Software Engineering department and Business Analysis community

About the candidate:

You will:

  • Have a strong foundation in Business Analysis and the ability to capture and articulate business requirements and outcomes.
  • Have a background working with teams who are implementing process automation solutions. 
  • Be comfortable in specifying example-based scenarios to validate understanding with business stakeholders.
  • Be comfortable in contributing to technical solution and testing discussions around appropriate approach to testing.
  • Have experience working with an agile environment along with the ability to accurately support, estimate and plan within teams.
  • Be conversant with the concept of user stories and demonstrable experience driving and contributing to 3 Amigos sessions and the capture of detailed acceptance criteria.

It is also desirable that you will:

  • Have experience working in or around the Higher Education sector and exposure to related business processes
  • Have experience in teams using Blue Prism but other process automation tools will be considered (eg UIPath, Microsoft Power Automate).
