We are seeking a specialist A Level Psychology teacher for a fixed-term maternity cover position within a large department. You will be responsible for learner achievement and outcomes, and experience with BTEC Psychology is desirable. We offer a supportive environment with a focus on continued professional development.
Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources including the development of on-line learning resources for identified modules, new units and courses in line with government policy, awarding body developments as well as student, community, economic and employer demands/requirements.
Responsible for retention, achievement, value added and attendance rates for identified cohorts by meeting the department requirements for student tracking and interventions.
Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression including implementing positive interventions where needed, for students undertaking identified modules.
Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
Develop and employ effective assessment activities with clear feedback strategies and application of internal quality assurance processes for identified modules.
Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
Assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback to motivate and inspire the learner to improve and record learners’ progress for identified modules.
Apply theoretical understanding of effective practice in teaching, learning and assessment drawing on research and other evidence and engage in the Group’s CPD practices
Hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE)
Hold a relevant higher level vocational qualification or degree in teaching in a subject within the Leeds Sixth Form curriculum area
Act with honesty and integrity to maintain high standards of ethics and professional standards
Proven experience working within curriculum, including planning, monitoring and reviewing
Effective knowledge of the college and an appreciation of the wider educational issues
Be able to creates and appreciate new ideas and perspectives, seeing possibilities and challenges
Be able to manage and promote restorative practice approaches and the strengthening of relationships
Be a role model and promote a positive image of the college
Be able to embody the college values: Collaborative; Inspiring; Passionate; Aspirational; Celebrate Individuality; Respectful
