This role places you at the heart of student advocacy, helping students shape their academic experience and influence decision-making within the university. If you're organised, proactive, and passionate about student engagement, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Coordinating the Academic Representatives system, ensuring elected students are well-supported in their roles.
- Delivering training programs to equip students with the skills to advocate effectively.
- Liaising with university staff, strengthening collaboration between students, the SU, and the institution.
- Facilitating democratic processes, including SU elections and student feedback sessions.
- Supporting the delivery of advocacy campaigns to address student concerns and improve their experience.
- Monitoring and reporting on student representation activities, providing insight into trends and impact.
- Developing leadership and negotiation skills among student representatives.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Experience in student representation, advocacy, or democratic engagement.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse student body.
- Ability to analyse feedback and produce reports to drive student-led improvements.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach to work.
- Passion for empowering students and fostering an inclusive environment.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a Students’ Union or membership organisation.
- Knowledge of UK university/ HEI governance structures and decision-making processes.
- Experience delivering training or mentoring student leaders.
- Familiarity with national student advocacy organisations (e.g., NUS).
