Section Manager - Teacher Training

28.8 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Working days are expected to include Wednesdays and Thursdays; evening teaching on 1 day per week

HRUC is a successful merged College Group, bringing together Richmond Upon Thames College, Harrow College and Uxbridge College, based across 5 vibrant campuses. We are seeking an oustanding practitioner in teaching and learning to manage and co-ordinate the delivery of all teacher training qualifications for Uxbridge and Harrow Colleges. This post is part time (equivalent to 4 days per week).

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Organising and managing the curriculum 
  • Being a Leader in Learning and supporting other colleagues with the development of innovative teaching methodology 
  • Working with Heads of School and the People and Organisation Development team to support unqualified teachers during training
  • Teaching across a range of programmes
  • Supporting with the development of innovative teaching methodology and work with the Manager of Teaching and Learning in the development of cross college training 
  • Oversight of the mentoring support given to staff on teacher training at Uxbridge and Harrow Colleges to ensure its supportive and effective

We are seeking an experienced practitioner who can demonstrate the following:

  • Advanced level teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. PGCE, DET) with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience as an Advanced Teaching Practitioner
  • Experience of Teacher Training and/or substantial experience of staff development
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in teaching and learning
  • Good knowledge of Ofsted ITE & EIF Frameworks and especially in the practices of teaching and learning 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of curriculum management

Applicants must be able to work Wednesdays and Thursdays. The postholder may be required to teach one evening per week during term times, currently a Thursday.
