Main duties and responsibilities
You will join a large and friendly academic team which has a long-standing, successful track record in delivering nurse and nursing associate education at all levels of study. We have exciting programmes newly validated for student nurses (BSc & MSc), student nursing associates and aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioners as well as BSc & MSc programmes in Contemporary Nursing. You will contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of learning and teaching activity in Adult Nursing, mainly Pre-registration Nursing (BSc & MSc-including apprenticeship) and the Nursing Associate Degree Apprenticeship programme with the possibility of contributing to short courses and CPPD programmes. At Senior Lecturer level you would be expected to take on Module Leadership. You will use effective learning techniques to engage and support students, including supporting recruitment and assessment as required. Research, publications and presenting are important elements of the role. We embody a collaborative and compassionate ethos and you will contribute to that, also building effective working relationships with local partners and external agencies
Skill and experience required
You will have experience in supporting student learning in either a practice or classroom setting. For the Senior Lecturer you’ll also demonstrate experience of facilitating student learning in a University setting (e.g. student nurses, student nursing associates). It’s key to have knowledge of current NMC requirements and standards of proficiency, and for the Senior Lecturer also evidence of evidence-informed teaching practice. A record or evidence of publications would be desirable. You will demonstrate evidence of teamworking and working autonomously as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications required
You will be a Registered Nurse with the NMC as an Adult Nurse and hold a minimum of a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area. The successful candidate would also need for the Senior Lecturer post, a Master’s Degree or a Level 7 qualification such as a PgDip and teaching qualification or willingness to undertake a qualification which are both essential.
Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria. Please attach a personal statement showing clearly how your skills and experience match the Person Specification.
An appointment to this role may require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.
The (UH7 Lecturer) post cannot be visa sponsored unless the applicant has a PhD / Doctorate.
