The MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine is a vibrant and active research community undertaking cutting edge biomedical and clinical research.

As a senior IT team member, you will be pivotal to the development and evolution of IT strategy and policy within the Institute. You will split your time between routine activities to maintain the infrastructure, supporting the academics, and continued development of the IT infrastructure to meet our future needs.

The IT requirements of the Institute’s users are often complex and ground-breaking which will require you to have a systematic and methodical approach to complex problem solving and excellent organisational skills. You will hold a degree or have relevant experience, with a good knowledge of server technologies including physical and virtual servers.

You will have significant experience of managing at least two or more of the following Windows servers, Linux servers (Ubuntu/RedHat), VMware cluster and/ or large scale distributed storage (Gluster/Ceph). Experience of network management, including TCP/IP, VLANs, switch configuration and access control and the use of scripting languages for system management (e.g. Bash, Perl, Python, and PowerShell) are also essential.
