Job Purpose
To support the delivery of curriculum in Electrical Installation and across UHI Inverness through the management and maintenance of specialised workshops and laboratories including equipment used in these environments.

Key Accountabilities
- Technical Support: Provide demonstration support of electrical wiring systems and equipment to assist lecturing staff in effective and safe delivery, e.g., by workshop activity support.
- Preparation: Prepare and layout materials and equipment required by lecturers to enable class delivery.
- Curriculum Support: Actively support curriculum delivery within the workshop, assisting lecturing staff in setting up and building tasks for students to undertake, and providing guidance and support to students during practical sessions.
- Demonstration: Build demonstration boards and other items to support curriculum delivery.
- Student Assistance: Provide information and support to students undertaking project work to contribute to their success.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment, stock, and furnishings in the relevant facilities.
- Equipment Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance of equipment and perform repairs.
- Storage Management: Maintain storage to ensure appropriate availability and compliance with legal requirements and Health & Safety Regulations for any hazardous materials.
- Material Preparation: Prepare materials for use by student groups to enable them to complete tasks.
- Calibration: Ensure that all measuring equipment is maintained in good working order and as necessary, calibrated.
- Facility Management: Ensure that all related facilities are in good, secure, and safe running order to support curriculum delivery, student learning, and events.
- Stock Control: Maintain a cost-effective and accurate stock control system, ensuring that optimum stock levels are maintained, and order materials as required.
- Material Issuance: Issue materials, tools, and equipment for use by students to enable them to complete tasks as set by the lecturing staff.
- Recycling: Reclaim and recycle materials wherever possible to minimize costs and maximise sustainability.
- Workshop Cleanliness: Ensure workshops are kept tidy and clean, and waste materials are removed.
- Installation: Carry out installation, transference, etc., of equipment as and when required, and maintain inspection and safety records to comply with Health and Safety procedures.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties resulting from organisational change, restructuring or temporary reassignment of work, within broad parameters limited by the grading of the post.
