The UCL Department of Information Studies (DIS) is an international centre for knowledge creation and transfer in the fields of librarianship, archives and records management, publishing, information science and digital humanities. In addition to its own programmes, DIS collaborates in the delivery of an inter-faculty BSc in Information Management for Business. About the role
The successful candidate will carry out research and teaching with a focus on the areas set out below and academic related administration within the department. About you
We are seeking an innovative researcher to appoint to a full-time lectureship before or at the beginning of September 2025. Applicants must answer research questions of relevance to a humanities discipline, by applying or developing technological solutions in an interdisciplinary way. This may include approaches such as but not limited to software development (Python, R), front-end development (JavaScript), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), 3D modelling, Geographic Information Science (GIS), text analysis/corpus linguistics, digitisation, or emerging interdisciplinary technological areas. The purpose of the research should be to contribute new interdisciplinary knowledge relevant to a humanities domain. The teaching focus will be on Masters level teaching within the MA and MSc Digital Humanities programmes. The candidate will also be required to lead on a new technical project module. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise research students and Masters and undergraduate dissertations and undertake academic related administrative duties.
