The Head of Curriculum and Progression will provide the leadership and vision to support the delivery of excellent student success in a centre which is growing, transitioning to becoming a multi-campus operation and launching new curricula for its two university partners.

You will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of academic staff and have responsibility for learning, teaching and assessment at the new City Campus. Reporting to the Deputy Centre Director (Curriculum), you will work closely with the Assistant Directors Curriculum and Student Experience, and other colleagues within and outside the ISC. You will be accountable for the delivery of student outcomes contractually required progression rates to the University. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Contribute to strategic planning, policy development and operational activities in areas including human resources; academic development; learning, teaching and assessment; and academic quality assurance and enhancement as part of the Centre management team.
  • Provide effective and efficient academic leadership, management and co-ordination of staff resources across the academic teams in the Centre, working closely with the Centre Director  and the management team.
  • Lead on the delivery of annual module evaluations and programme reviews reporting progress and areas for improvement directly to the relevant board.
  • Produce reports, analysis and evaluation for all internal and external scrutiny processes of annual and periodic review as directed by the Centre Director.
  • As part of the Centre management team, contribute towards effective day to day management of the ISC campuses including inducting staff, implementing health and safety policies, arranging cover for direct reports, responding to the views, needs and requests of students, HEIs, staff, parents, and sponsors; attending meetings as appropriate, and inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Work closely with Heads of Department and AES Curriculum Leaders (where applicable) and the Regional Head of English to ensure that appropriate, current and relevant subject, academic skills and language developments are integrated and embedded in programmes, aligned with and affirming partnership articulation aspirations.
  • Monitor progression tracking activities and student outcomes planning within the Centre, reporting to the Deputy Centre Director Curriculum and centre committees, as appropriate.
  • Support the SLT through Safer Recruitment actions, and making certain that all academic staff across the Centre are aware of their obligations/requirements in relation to safeguarding.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Bachelor’s degree(E) and a postgraduate qualification (Master’s or above) (D)
  • Teaching qualification or HEA Fellowship (E)
  • Further management or leadership qualifications or a willingness to undertake such (E)
  • Experience in providing leadership in a complex multi-disciplinary environment, with recent evidence of significant success in bringing individuals together and forming a strong team ethos (E)
  • Ability to delegate activities set deadlines and take responsibility for overseeing their successful completion to meet challenging targets (E)
  • Experience in planning and delivering change or continuous improvement in teaching & learning which achieved a positive impact on student outcomes (E)
  • Experience working with international students and an understanding and knowledge of welfare, well-being and cultural issues which may arise (D)
  • Experience in data management and interpretation, and quality assurance (E)
  • Experience of HR duties, such as delivering training and taking part in the recruitment process (D)
  • Experience in successfully leading on internal communications, which includes disseminating complex messages or changes to operations (D)
