Oxford Population Health (the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford) is a global pioneer and leader in population health science. The department has over 900 staff, students and academic visitors who work together to investigate the causes and prevention of disease and lead human health forward.
The Communications Team work with world-leading researchers to strengthen the department’s reputation and maximise the impact of its research. As a Communications Assistant, you will play a key role in engaging a variety of stakeholders, including staff, students, clinicians, funders, researchers, and the public. You will contribute to delivering content across multiple platforms, including social media, and help make complex research accessible to a wider audience.
Your role will involve managing social media accounts, updating website content, and creating digital assets like videos, photos, infographics, and podcasts. You will also assist with event coordination, track media coverage, and compile analytics for digital platforms. Additionally, you will provide administrative support, including financial tasks, note-taking, and meeting coordination.
To be considered, you will have proven experience in communications within a large organisation. You should be skilled in writing engaging content, with the ability to simplify technical and academic material for non-specialist audiences. Experience with website content management systems, social media platforms (such as Bluesky and LinkedIn), creative software (such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign, Illustrator), and standard office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive) is essential. You should also have the ability to stay updated with new technologies.
The position is full-time (part-time considered) and fixed term for two years.
