The Manchester Hair Research Group (MHRG), within the Division of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences, School of Biological Sciences, is seeking a Research Associate for an exciting 1-year research project on inflammatory hair loss disorders.

Funded in partnership with an industry partner, this project will leverage state-of-the-art molecular biology and bioinformatics approaches, including single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), to investigate the pathobiology of inflammatory hair loss disorders and their responsiveness to immunotherapy.

The post-holder will execute the research project across both MHRG and industry laboratory facilities and is expected to have relevant experience and knowledge to enable the generation of single cell suspensions for downstream analysis. Experience with human hair research would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

This role offers the opportunity to join MHRG, a research team dedicated to advancing the understanding of human hair follicle biology and scalp hair loss disorders. The MHRG is supported by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, alongside charity and key industry partnerships. Our multidisciplinary team, spanning both basic and clinical expertise, aims to uncover the causes of hair loss, identify drivers of hair growth, and develop novel strategies to prevent and manage hair loss, ultimately improving patient quality of life.
