What You’ll Be Doing

We’re seeking a highly experienced psychological therapist (clinical psychologist, counselling psychologist, or CBT therapist) to join our team. You’ll be instrumental in developing evidence-based resources that empower therapists and enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop practical resources for therapists and clients, including worksheets, exercises, information handouts, skills-development guides, and audio materials.
  • Summarise scientific literature and translate it into accessible content to guide clinical best practice.
  • Write engaging articles and digital content for mental health professionals.
  • Collaborate with other psychologists to develop, review, and refine resources.

What We’re Looking For

  • A professional qualification in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or CBT (BABCP-accredited) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Evidence of research expertise as demonstrated by research output or collaboration with research groups.
  • Proven ability to write for diverse audiences, including academic and lay readers.
  • A strong writing portfolio, including articles for scientific journals, self-help resources, or public-facing psychological content.
  • Experience teaching or presenting to clinical and/or academic audiences.
  • Experience as a science communicator is an advantage.

We Are Particularly Interested In Candidates With

  • Experience delivering evidence-based CBT interventions to children, adolescents, and families.
  • A background working in child and adolescent mental health services.
  • Ongoing engagement in clinical practice (part-time or occasional) is preferred, to ensure continued familiarity with the challenges faced by practitioners and clients.

Role Details

  • Time Commitment: 0.6 to 1.0 FTE.
  • Location: Remote-friendly, with the expectation that the chosen candidate will attend monthly planning and review meetings at our Reading office.
  • Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 FTE subject to experience

Requirements

  • Doctoral-level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (HCPC registered), or
  • Accreditation as a CBT Therapist by the BABCP.
  • Additional post-qualification training in a specialised area of psychological practice, via formal training (e.g., PG Diploma) or a portfolio of supervised practice-based learning.
  • Training in clinical supervision, or accreditation to supervise qualified psychological practitioners in the relevant discipline.
  • The right to work in the UK.
