About the role
Based at the Healthy Infrastructure Research Group at the UCL Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, the post is part of the NIHR-funded AIRSAFETY project bringing together experts in clinical care, patient safety, fluid dynamics and microbiology.
The post will underpin our activities in experimental measurements focusing on aerosol droplet dispersion and impact in order to minimize airborne transmission of pathogens. We will be undertaking measurements involving air and surface sampling and aerosol and droplet quantification. Microbiological culture and PCR-based methods will be used to quantify microorganisms and surrogate DNA markers in samples. The measurements will be performed both in laboratory and clinical settings, under different operating conditions (e.g. occupancy, ventilation) and in controlled environments (e.g. environmental chamber).
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; there is a salary range of £43,374 - £44,480 for this role.
