UCC wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Lecturer in Human Geography, reporting to the Head of Department, to complement and expand the Department’s existing interdisciplinary research and teaching interests in this area. The successful candidate for this lectureship will teach in urban geography and complementary areas of human geography to undergraduates and postgraduates, as well as mentor and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students. The successful candidate will also perform core administrative duties within our BA programmes. In addition, candidates with experience in inclusive approaches to teaching, learning and assessment in Human Geography are encouraged.

The appointee will be expected to be research active, building on existing areas of research strength in the School, with the potential for securing ERC funding. They will align to the UCC Collective Social Futures area on appointment - https://www.ucc.ie/en/futures/#about-ucc-futures, and/or other relevant UCC Futures Clusters, and will be expected to collaborate with research groups within UCC such as ISS21, MaREI and the Environmental Research Institute, as well as develop international links.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €41,685 - €71,735 (Scale B) / €43,732 - €68,260 (Scale A).

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
