Are you passionate about public health challenges and contributing to the fight against antimicrobial resistance? Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher and Innovation Associate (PDR&IA) to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary research project on a full-time, fixed-term contract this Spring.
Joining the School of Natural Sciences, you will be focused on developing adjunctive chemotherapy for drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) and TB-like respiratory diseases.
This role is part of a UKRI-funded collaboration between Birkbeck, University of London (UK), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
The appointed PDR&IA will play a pivotal role in advancing antimicrobial drug discovery by investigating the mechanisms of antibiotic action of a novel class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), a promising repurposed drug with bactericidal potential against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
The research will integrate structural and molecular microbiology, biochemistry, and structural biology to assess the impact of NSAID and its derivatives on mycobacterial infections, with a particular focus on reversing antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
This project aligns with the WHO’s "End TB Strategy" and the UKRI-MOHE mission to combat infectious diseases globally.
The role offers exceptional opportunities for inter-institutional collaboration, professional development, and international research exchange.
If you have experience or interest in roles such as Research Fellow, Research Associate, or Academic Researcher, this Postdoctoral Researcher position could be the perfect fit for you, and we encourage you to apply for this role today.
