About the Role
A position is available for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Diego Villar on a 3-year project grant funded by the British Heart Foundation to investigate epigenomic events associated with cardiac hypertrophy. The successful applicant will lead a collaborative project focused on leveraging exciting newly developed experimental tools, including novel CRISPR (epi)genetic perturbations and mouse in vivo models to investigate the contributions of tissue-specific gene regulation and non-coding GWAS signals to cardiac traits and diseases (Frost et al bioRxiv 2025, Parey et al Genome Res. 2023 and Villar et al. Open Biology 2020). These studies will be conducted in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative environment, providing access to an excellent training and support network including epigenetics experts (QMUL Centre for Epigenetics), cardiovascular geneticists (Prof. Patricia Munroe) and computational collaborators (Dr. Camille Berthelot).
About You
We seek an ambitious and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher either with a PhD (or close to completion*) in a relevant subject, with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, genetics or functional epigenomics. A track record of effective communication, teamwork and successful project management is essential. Previous experience with epigenomic technologies, bioinformatics or animal disease models would be advantageous.
