They will report to the Bursar and support the Senior College Officers, and Governing Body in ensuring compliance with University, College and other regulatory and legislative compliance, including GDPR and information governance.

Background

Trinity Hall was founded in 1350 by the Bishop of Norwich primarily to teach Canon and Civil Law. Today, Trinity Hall is a progressive, liberal institution catering for the majority of subjects taught in the University. We have approximately 350 undergraduate and 250 graduate students, 65 Governing Body Fellows and 160 staff. The College is dedicated to academic excellence and is proud of its reputation as a friendly and supportive institution for students, staff and Fellows alike.

This role, newly created as a separate function, is a key position working closely with the Senior Officers including the Master (Chair of Governing Body), the Bursar, Senior Tutor and Junior Bursar. The appointee will also work closely with the Secretary of Governing Body and Dean of Discipline.

Duties

The work involved will range widely across the College's range of activities and will require a thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance issues in a residential academic environment and relevant GDPR and compliance governance experience.

This is a varied post with duties to include:

  • Supporting the College by ensuring that robust governance processes are maintained.
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the College's committee system in compliance with the Statues and Ordinances and maintenance/updating of the Regulations.
  • Acting as the College Data Protection Lead (CDPL) and in this capacity being responsible for the management of the College's Subject Access requests and Freedom of Information requests.
  • Administration of the College's insurance cover.

Conditions of employment

The role is a permanent position, beginning ideally no later than September 2025.

The role is expected to be full time and based in Cambridge; however, we are open to discussions about flexible working and we welcome part-time applicants for a minimum of 28 hours per week.

The remuneration for this role will be circa £46,000 depending on skills and experience, plus pension and employees' benefits.

The successful applicant will be subject to a six-month probation period.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a role dealing with corporate governance, preferably within a registered charity, meet the selection criteria specified in the Person Specification, and two excellent references, including one from the current employer.

Interviews and appointment may proceed before closing date should some applicants prove to fulfil job criteria.
