About the role
AMRC exists to support medical research charities to be as effective as possible as they find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat disease. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead AMRC’s work to support our charities to fund high quality research well, to demonstrate impact and to be recognised and valued experts. As a member of the senior leadership team (SLT), the post-holder will lead and manage a small team, and work alongside the CEO and other Directors to develop and deliver the overall strategy and operating plan for AMRC to champion, support and connect our charities. Building strong working relationships with member charities and senior stakeholders across the life sciences sector in the UK will be essential, as will identifying opportunities to foster partnerships and collaborations with charities.
About you
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think strategically and work in partnership are essential, helping charities to be on the front foot and navigate a changing landscape. You will have strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to network and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. With experience and understanding of working in a research funding environment and / or monitoring and evaluating research and its impact, you will be passionate about championing and supporting medical research charities to enable them to fund the best research. We also offer a very flexible working environment – staff have the option to work in our office or remotely, with a minimum 20% in the office per calendar month – and we have a generous leave allowance.
