We need an excellent candidate to lead and develop a specialist team that is responsible for providing practical support for Project Managers/leads of research and enterprise (R&E) projects which contribute to the university’s R&E ambitions and income generation in the university's Faculties and Departments.
You will take responsibility for staff development, and training within the team, ensuring all staff have the necessary skills and experience to provide the support required alongside devising, managing, supporting and monitoring the delivery of a suite of training and development opportunities for university staff related to R&E projects and project management.
You will devise and implement strategies to ensure R&E projects are successfully delivered, minimising clawback and risk to the university. You will devise and manage processes for project delivery support, including partner due diligence, and take responsibility for reporting on project activity, working closely with the Funding Compliance Office and Finance.
The post holder will personally lead on strategic, high-risk projects, including acting as temporary Project Manager for strategic, high-risk projects as required, mentoring others in the team to share knowledge and experience.
We are looking for someone with a high level of emotional intelligence who has the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels across the University to ensure quality service delivery, demonstrating political awareness, diplomacy and tact. You will need proven experience of managing and motivating a team; outstanding leadership skills; a proven track record of managing or supporting R&E projects; a proven ability to develop and implement successful and efficient policies and procedures alongside enthusiasm and evidence of a proactive approach to continuous service improvement.
