Are you enthusiastic about flow cytometry and looking for a new challenge?

The Nuffield Department of Medicine has an exciting new position based at the Old Road Campus Research Building for a Flow Cytometry Facility Manager to join the team. You will manage the day to day running of the facility, and provide training to users in a range of flow cytometry techniques at the appropriate level for the user and their project requirements.

You will be responsible for overseeing the use of the facility flow cytometers, carry out system performance tests and contact engineers and/or company representatives in case of instrument malfunction or underperformance. You will provide flow analysis training on equipment and software for all users and ensure the safe and proper operation of the facility equipment, as well as managing relevant service contracts for the various instruments. Other duties will include assisting in writing grant applications, developing advanced cell analysis and/or sorting workflows, and helping to evaluate prospective new equipment.

This is a varied and challenging role, and as such we are looking for an individual with a degree in biological sciences or other relevant discipline and knowledge and experience of flow cytometry and the operation of a variety of flow cytometry instruments. It is essential you are able to provide scientific support to all levels of personnel including prioritizing and scheduling the use of shared facilities, and that you have experience in flow cytometry data analysis with commercial and open-source flow analysis packages. You will have a clear enthusiasm for working in a flow cytometry facility to support and enable the varied work of research groups throughout the University. Experience in full spectrum flow cytometry would be highly desirable.
