About the role
Led by University of Plymouth, STRIDE (Success Through Research, Innovation and Development Excellence) is a high impact, bespoke RD&I project that is designed to support innovative businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. With the aim of taking businesses from idea through to commercialisation, this position supports new product development and requires an understanding of the design and manufacturing process.
To be successful in this role, you will need to understand technology, materials and manufacturing methods and have experience of working with technical teams across multiple disciplines. Experience of designing engineering products from concept through to prototype and knowledge of the manufacturing processes are key requirements.
As this role requires liaising with technical teams across the university, knowledge and experience of working within a university environment is desirable.
You will be working closely with colleagues, businesses, technicians and academics so excellent communication skills are necessary.
This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2026 due to funding. You will be based on the University of Plymouth main campus.

This role is funded through the C&IoS Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), Investment Priority: Supporting Local Business.
There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
