Post Summary
The Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in International Relations, to commence on 1st August 2025.
The Department of Political Science wishes to make a Teaching Fellow appointment with a special focus on contributing to the development of our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in international relations. In particular, this includes co-supervision of advanced research projects to be completed by an increasing number of undergraduate students in Political Science, as well as further developing the quality of our research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The Teaching Fellow should also be prepared to teach, or to contribute to teaching general political science modules and modules in research design and/or quantitative research methods.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong experience in teaching and have experience in teaching as teaching assistant or lead instructor for a variety of modules. The successful candidate should be able to teach and co-supervise undergraduate and masters-level dissertation topics in international relations, as well as to contribute flexibly across the range of the Department’s teaching needs. An ability to teach modules in research design at both undergraduate and postgraduate/MSc level is highly desirable.
The normal teaching load for a Teaching Fellow in the department would be six semester-length modules per year. A single semester-length module normally requires 22 hours of FTF teaching. Teaching Fellows may also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate research supervision at an appropriate level.
