About the role
The successful candidate will be an experienced researcher with a strong track record in health research. You will play a pivotal role in two interrelated capacities, combining advanced data analysis with research support. First, as part of the NIHR-funded TaILOR programme, you will work with collaborators at the University of Oxford to analyse routinely collected healthcare data using OpenSAFELY to investigate the implementation of Patient-Initiated Follow-Up (PIFU) pathways in NHS rheumatology services. This role involves working as part of a team assessing clinical and cost-effectiveness outcomes, examining uptake and variations in PIFU implementation, and exploring factors that influence patient selection and pathway success. By contributing to this transformative research, you will help to shape innovative models of outpatient care for people with inflammatory arthritis, ensuring they are safe, effective, and acceptable to patients and clinicians.
In your second capacity, you will act as a quantitative research advisor for the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS), a national initiative providing expert advice to health researchers. Working with colleagues across King’s, Imperial College London, University College London, and Queen Mary University of London, you will offer tailored guidance on research design, statistical analysis, and quantitative methodologies to investigators across a range of disciplines. This includes supporting the development of grant applications, advising on data management and analysis strategies, and contributing to the creation of training materials and workshops to build research capacity.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, a strong foundation in quantitative research methods, and a passion for applying these methods to improve healthcare. You will thrive in a role that bridges academic research with practical healthcare innovation, helping to shape the future of rheumatology services and beyond.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30/04/28.
