Contract: Fixed term Maternity cover for 12 months
The Department of Materials is seeking an enthusiastic and highly individual to join our busy Education Support Team to provide academic administrative support for our postgraduate research programmes. This post will provide the post holder with an excellent opportunity to gain substantial experience of graduate student administration and to develop their career in university administration in one of the UKs leading universities.
This role is a full-time position, to provide maternity cover for up to twelve months, joining a team that provides the administrative support for all the students in the Department. You will work closely with the Director of Graduate Studies (On-course) and have contact with many staff and students so you will have good interpersonal skills of tact and diplomacy, with an ability to work with and communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
With proven ability to manage and prioritise a diverse and busy workload in an efficient and reliable manner, the Education Support Officer will be able to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver high levels of academic administration. You will have the capacity to understand and apply University and departmental policies and procedures accurately and effectively. As a customer-facing role, you will understand the importance of high standards of customer service as you will act as the first point of contact for many potential students.
You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, whilst producing accurate work to tight and sometimes competing deadlines. You will work effectively as part of a small team, having the ability to work independently yet understand when to refer matters to others.
All applications must be made online using the Oxford University E-Recruitment system, no later than 12 noon on 31 March 2025. You will be required to upload a CV and a Supporting Statement as part of your application. Please do not attach any manuscripts, papers, transcripts, mark sheets or certificates as these will not be considered as part of your application.
Interviews are scheduled to take place at the Department of Materials week commencing 21 April 2025 and you must be available during this time, either by Teams or in person. Please note in normal circumstances only interview travel expenses within the UK will be reimbursed.
