About the Role

The National Federated Compute Services (NFCS) NetworkPlus is a two-year UKRI/EPSRC funded programme which will build a community around national federated computational research services and develop roadmaps for future UKRI investment in this space. A key deliverable of the project is the commissioning a series of flexible funding projects that will generate evidence to support the delivery of the roadmaps.

The purpose of the role is to provide administrative, financial and secretarial support to the Scientific Computing Team primarily for the NetworkPlus Programme activities. The post holder will also be responsible for organising and supporting the safe and smooth running of events (workshops, meetings and conferences: in-person, remote and hybrid) associated with the Programme, maintaining close liaison with relevant parties to ensure events are planned and delivered effectively and efficiently to a high standard. 

The core project team has membership from the Universities of Bristol and Edinburgh, STFC Hartree Centre, STFC RAL. The Programme Management team is based at QMUL and comprises the PI, the Programme Manager and a Technical Coordinator.

About You

You will be an experienced administrator, skilled across MS Office and familiar with administration related IT systems. Able to work unsupervised and to exercise initiative in managing your workload, you will also have experience in management of education/research-related events, managing these budgets effectively and achieving value for money.

We are looking for someone who has good communication skills, in-person and written, who is effective at building and developing professional relationships.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

This post is based within the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences which has over 150 staff. The School forms one of five within the Faculty of Science and Engineering and consists of two distinct research departments: Chemistry and Physics & Astronomy, both delivering world-leading research and high-class teaching. The School is located on the Mile End Campus in the purpose-built Joseph Priestley and G.O. Jones Buildings. The School’s state of the art teaching and research laboratories and mechanical workshop facilities support a range of educational and research activities including those for external industrial partners.
