We are seeking an experienced professional who can proactively create opportunities for career-focused interactions between students and external parties (employers, alumni, parents, and friends of the university) to educate, inspire, and empower our students in achieving their career ambitions.

You would be expected to be willing to work across a wide range of occupational sectors and/or geographical areas but can expect to focus initially on our relationships in the UK and Europe.

Educated to degree level, you will have experience of the graduate labour market and be confident in your relationship management skills.

Through the relationships you develop with external organisations, you will aim to enhance the range of opportunities we can offer to our students such as events, internships, graduate jobs, and experiential learning.

You will have an interest in monitoring and analysing trends in the student and graduate recruitment landscape and a commitment to gathering and sharing insights with colleagues to support the development of the Careers Centre.

We can be flexible about the working pattern for this 0.5 FTE role and hybrid working arrangements are available. We are also open to reducing the role to 0.4 FTE.

Employees of the University have access to a wide range of staff benefits including:

  • Annual leave of 34 days, plus 5 public holidays.
  • Financial contribution to relocation.
  • Membership of the USS Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions.
  • A hybrid working environment, including partial homeworking where appropriate and a range of family friendly policies.
  • Staff discount scheme for local and national goods and services.
  • Free staff parking, employee Carshare and Cycle to Work Schemes and subsidised local bus travel.
  • Subsidised sports membership, reduced tuition fees on degree programmes for staff, access to training and development opportunities including LinkedIn Learning, access to library facilities, salary sacrifice scheme.
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives including membership of Peppy, a health application that connects staff to expert practitioners and personalized support on health matters.

This post will be based between 2 locations: the Eden Campus at Guardbridge, a state-of-the-art working environment for professional services units, and the Careers Centre at 6 St Mary’s Place, St Andrews. Hybrid working arrangements are available, with the expectation that you spend a minimum of 50% of your time on site.

Further information and informal enquiries may be directed to Sharon Cant, Assistant Director (Opportunities), email: slc35@st-andrews.ac.uk.
