The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts is recognised as a world leading centre of excellence for creative learning and vocational training within the performing arts and creative economies. We enjoy an international and national reputation for the quality of our teaching, our world class facilities and an enviable track record of graduate employment and alumni successes.

We are looking to recruit an HR Manager to join our HR & Payroll team reporting to the Head of HR, Culture and Transformation. This is an exciting time to join the team to support the implementation of a new integrated HR and Payroll System and help us to drive continuous improvements and excellence in service delivery.

Other responsibilities include

  • The delivery of a proactive, comprehensive, professional and integrated payroll and pension service, including supervision of two payroll / pensions staff.
  • To support the team with monthly/yearly payroll and pension reconciliations, ensuring compliance with HMRC, pension regulations and statutory deadlines.
  • To support talent acquisition and recruitment, including onboarding
  • To oversee HR administration including offer letters, contracts and changes in terms and condition
  • To advise managers and staff about policies, procedures and processes and update as required
  • To support HR processes including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management
  • To contribute to projects such as the implementation of the new HRIS as part of the implementation of the Human Resources Strategy.

The ideal candidate will be qualified at least CIPD Level 5 and will have proven experience in HR and payroll management with a keen eye for detail and prioritisation as we process payroll and pensions contributions inhouse. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities are essential, and you must be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and on your own initiative.

You will have excellent technical, organisational and problem-solving skills. Strong proficiency in payroll systems, excel and Microsoft packages are essential. Experience of working in education and processing teachers’ pensions would be advantageous but is not essential as training can be provided.  This is a fulltime, office-based position to commence as soon as possible. Some hybrid working is available.

In return we offer a highly creative working environment that will inspire you to fulfil your potential and training opportunities to develop your skills and experience, competitive salary commensurate with experience, pension options (default scheme ER 4% / EE 4% or enhanced contribution ER 16.48% / EE 8.6%), 25 days holiday per year rising to 30 after 5 years’ service plus statutory bank holidays, Christmas closure and complimentary tickets to our inhouse productions.

Closing date for applications: Friday 21st March 2025 at 4pm but early application is recommended as we expect interest in the role to be high and we may close applications early.

Interview date: TBA

To apply please send your CV and a cover letter explaining why your experience, skills and approach make you the ideal candidate for the role along with details of your notice period/availability to recruit@lipa.ac.uk
