Role Description
The Department of Language and Linguistic Science is seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer in Chinese Translation and Interpreting from August 1 2025 to contribute to our recently-launched postgraduate programmes in interpreting, translation and applied technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in contributing to the delivery and success of our growing suite of translation and interpreting programmes in a dynamic department that excels in both research and teaching.
This post is offered on a part-time basis, 0.5 FTE, on a fixed term (2 years) at Grade 6.
Department
The Department of Language and Linguistic Science at the University of York offers a wide range of courses in languages and linguistics, joint degrees with other disciplines and, more recently, postgraduate training in translation and interpreting. Our department also delivers language electives to students from across the university, and language classes open to students, staff and the general public. We are 1st in the UK for the quality of our research according to the Times Higher Education’s ranking of the latest REF results (2021), and both our teaching and research have been highly rated for a number of years. We belong to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, which is ranked 54th in the world by subject in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
