We are looking for a Senior Tester to join our software development team at the Birmingham City University. You will be responsible for leading the testing function within the team, while shaping skills, processes and tools to support a truly agile dev/test/release environment. You will work closely with developers, product owners and stakeholders to ensure the quality and reliability of our software products.
As a Senior Tester, you will enjoy flexible working arrangements, a say in the overall running of the development team and a generous package of benefits from the University including 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays. You will have prior experience in a Senior Test role, ISTQB foundation certification (as a minimum level), and the ability to lead a small team. You will have a comprehensive understanding of test methodologies and techniques, good experience with Agile development methodologies and testing in agile development, and experience in test management tool such as Azure Devops – Test Hub or equivalent. You will have excellent experience in preparing and maintaining test cases and test plans derived from user stories and acceptance criteria, integration and integration automation testing, API testing and BDD framework using Specflow or similar. You will also have experience in exploratory testing and assisting/coordinating UAT testing. Experience in basic SQL queries and backend testing, mobile app and responsive testing, and previous line management experience would be ideal.
The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so, and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
