Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The School of Computer Science/Te Kura Mātai Rorohiko at University of Auckland/Waipapa Taumata Rau is currently looking for an early career academic to join our diverse and internationally renowned school as a Professional Teaching Fellow. If you are passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and want to build lasting collaborations, and value diversity, we encourage you to apply.
The appointee will be in charge of coordinating and supervising third-year undergraduate projects (Capstone project) and teaching into the undergraduate programme. Duties will include coordinating the assignment and progress of student projects, lecturing to large classes, and working with small student groups in laboratory settings. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are important. Experience with students, supervision of projects, and lecturing is essential. Preference will be for applicants from under-represented groups – such as female, Māori, and Pasifika. Knowledge in Computer Science Theory, Software Engineering, and Computer Systems will be appreciated.

This is a full time, permanent position (40 hrs - Monday to Friday) and is a teaching-only position.
The salary is between $103,716 – $114,636 per annum, depending on skills and experience

The School of Computer Science was founded in 1981. We employ over 80 academic staff and have an ever-growing cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The University of Auckland is ranked 65 in the 2025 QS World University Rankings and the school has been ranked 99 in the 2024 QS World University Rankings by subject of Computer Science.
Our academics undertake research across a wide range of computing fields: AI, ML, Software Engineering, Data Science, Algorithms and Theoretical Computer Science, Cyber Security, Communication and Information Technology, and Systems development and evaluation.
