The UK Institute for Technical Skills & Strategy (UK ITSS) is the national advocate for the technical community. As the home of the Technician Commitment, we proudly champion technicians' critical role in higher education and research.
Despite their vital contributions to education, research, and innovation, the technical workforce has long been under-recognised. We are here to change that.
In this role, you will:
Based at the University of Nottingham, you’ll be part of our small but dynamic marketing and communications team, championing technicians nationally.
This is an exciting stage of growth for UK ITSS, and you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing our reputation and engaging key stakeholders.
About the team
You will join a small communications and marketing function which sits within a broader team of 27, made up of operational support staff, Our Learning and Development team, T Levels University Support Manager, Research and Policy Team
About you
We’re looking for a passionate, personable communicator who has a strong attention to detail, as your skills will help us engage with a 35,000-strong technical community across universities and research institutes,
You’ll help to promote our pioneering leadership and development programmes, including Knowledge Exchange Placements and other key initiatives that elevate technicians’ visibility and careers and ideally have 2 years' experience in a similar communications and marketing role.

Interviews will take place in mid-April (date tbc) and will be in Nottingham on the Jubilee Campus.
The post is offered on a fixed term contract until 31 July 2026. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 21.75 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may also be considered.
