This new part-time (0.2 FTE) post is available from the end of August 2025 on a permanent basis. Please note that subject to further approval, an additional 0.4 FTE might become available.
This post will be based in the Clinical Skills Resource Centre, Heavitree Hospital, Exeter.
About the role
The Faculty wishes to recruit a permanent, part-time Clinical Skills Tutor (Education and Scholarship) to support the delivery of all aspects of clinical skills including communication skills, to years one to five of a five-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree.
The post will include delivery of predesigned sessions following the BMBS timetable to medical students.
About you
The successful applicant will possess sufficient breadth of core knowledge and depth of specialist knowledge in their discipline, demonstrated by registration with GMC/NMC or equivalent in health care, to teach and support learning in this academic area and develop teaching programmes. They will use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students. They will participate in and develop external networks, for example to contribute to student recruitment, facilitate outreach work, or build relationships for future activities.
The successful applicants will have evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review and have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching. They must be a team player. Ideally the applicants will maintain a clinical post in addition to this teaching post, keeping them as current as possible with the changing nature of healthcare and clinical procedures. Staff at this level may wish to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
