Time Commitment: 6-8 days per year.
Established in 1969, the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) is Britain’s largest independent social research organisation. We believe that social research has the power to make life better. We strive to make a positive difference to society by providing trusted, authoritative and relevant evidence to those who take the decisions that affect society.
We are now looking for a new Trustee to diversify and strengthen our current Board to support the leadership of the organisation as we embark upon a refresh of our current strategy. Our core capability lies in high quality interviewer led social surveys, from which we have developed an enviable track record in working with clients and partners across a range of policy research areas.
As we begin a refresh of our current strategy we are already investing in a series of transformational priorities, embracing change, using best methods and enabling technologies to improve how we work. Looking forward to our strategy refresh we want to identify the policy agendas where we believe we can add the greatest public value, alongside broadening the offer of our services into new client markets and new service areas. The commitment is to reinvigorate the core purpose that NatCen has in being a part of the civic infrastructure of the UK and the means by which society can listen to itself.
With an established track record of board level experience, you will bring professional expertise from one of a number of areas including, strategic finance, technology and operational transformation, people and culture. We are also specifically looking to build our relationships with Higher Education and to appoint a Trustee who will take on the sponsorship of ScotCen, which last year celebrated its 25th anniversary.
NatCen's ambition is to be valued as the organisation that provides the evidence and insight that decision makers trust. Our success has been built on independence and trust, our relevance to society and our high-quality social research, so if you’re as excited as we are about this opportunity and have the skills, expertise and passion to help NatCen make our ambition a reality, then we’d be delighted to hear from you.
