Based at the National Horizons Centre (NHC) in Darlington, the School of Health and Life Sciences (SHLS) is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers in an Industrial Collaborative Research Project entitled “Exploring the anti-tumour potential of pan-KRAS inhibitors for ovarian cancer therapy”.
The researcher will work under the supervision of the project director/lead, Dr Sweta Sharma Saha and supported by academic co-investigator, Prof Vikki Rand and Clinical Investigator, Dr Asima Mukhopadhyay. The researcher will also be supported by project lead from Industrial Collaborator, Boehringer-Ingelheim.
The researcher will be responsible for carrying out lab-based work using 2D and 3D models of ovarian cancers (including tumour-immune co-culture models) as well as clinical samples. A background in cancer biology and experience in cell culture methodologies, basic molecular biology techniques like Western Blotting, DNA and RNA extraction and quantitation will be required. Some experience in flow cytometry or fluorescence imaging would be beneficial. The researcher will liaise closely with a Scientific Experimental Officer who is part of the project team in performing experiments, data analysis, and lab record keeping. A close working relationship will be established with the team at Boehringer Ingelheim for research discussions and project management meetings.
