About the Role

The Network & Security Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the university’s network infrastructure and cybersecurity. This role combines technical expertise with management responsibilities, ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable services.

The post holder will lead a team overseeing wired, Wi-Fi, and remote access services while defending against evolving cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement the university’s network and security strategy, aligned with institutional objectives.
• Advise senior leadership on emerging technologies, security risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Represent the Network & Security team at governance meetings, shaping policy and strategy. 

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop the team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and professional development.
• Act as the key escalation point for critical incidents.

Financial & Operational Management

• Manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
• Oversee procurement and vendor relationships, ensuring value for money.

IT & Security Operations

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of network and security services.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, and other cybersecurity standards.
• Oversee vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and incident response.

Development & Innovation

• Drive continuous improvement and stay ahead of emerging threats.
• Lead infrastructure enhancement projects, ensuring timely delivery.
• Promote adoption of innovative solutions supporting teaching, research, and administration.
