The University of Aberdeen is looking to recruit an experienced energy management professional. The successful candidate will join the Estates & Facilities directorate as Energy Manager and will lead a team of energy and controls professionals. This is an exciting time to be joining the University, and the new Energy Manager will have a key role to play as the University charts its way towards achieving its Net Zero ambitions.
The Energy Manager will lead the development of energy and utilities budgets, the procurement of utilities through existing sector frameworks, the analysis of consumption trends, and the identification of opportunities to improve energy efficiency through comprehensive monitoring and targeting.
The role also takes a lead on the compliance aspects of operating the University’s energy and heating infrastructure, ensuring adherence to all relevant protocols and legislation. As part of this, the post oversees aspects of the maintenance and development of the University’s energy systems.
In the context of the University’s Net Zero commitment, the post-holder will have the opportunity to play a strategic role in advising the University as it seeks to make appropriate technological choices in pursuit of the decarbonisation of our heating and energy systems.
Based in the Estates and Facilities directorate, the role is part of a wider team that is responsible for maintaining and managing all aspects of the University’s properties, facilities, buildings and grounds.
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant energy, engineering, building services or environmental related discipline. They should have proven experience across a broad spectrum of energy management disciplines, including budgeting, metering, monitoring and targeting, and the operation and development of energy systems in a medium or large organisation.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 scale (£46,735 - £55,755) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
