About us

Nanjing University Business School (NJUBS) originated from the business discipline of Sanjiang Normal College in 1902. During the nationwide restructuring of universities and colleges in 1952, the Department of Economics and Management of Nanjing University were merged into other universities and colleges. In 1978, Nanjing University resumed the Department of Economics and established the Department of Management in 1986. In 1988, the International Business School of Nanjing University was formally established, which was renamed Nanjing University Business School in 2000. NJUBS is a comprehensive business school with two broad disciplines, economics and management. The school has eight departments: Economics, International Economics and Trade, Finance and Insurance, Industrial Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing and Electronic Commerce, and Human Resource Management. It also houses several research institutes, including the Population Research Institute. NJUBS boasts an internationally renowned faculty, offers a comprehensive range of degree programs covering undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral education, and provides first-class facilities and administrative support for teaching and scientific research. The school has earned numerous top-notch academic honors and recognition in recent years. The discipline of Theoretical Economics at NJUBS has been selected in the national “Double First-Class” discipline construction list. The majors of Economics, International Trade, Finance, Financial Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Electronic Commerce, Financial Management, and Marketing have been selected in the list of National First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites. The School offers 11 undergraduate programs, 17 master's degree programs, 3 doctoral degree programs, and 3 areas for post-doctoral studies. NJUBS boasts the largest undergraduate and postgraduate student body within Nanjing University. In the fifth China Discipline Ranking (CDR), NJUBS has made significant progress in various disciplines, among which Business Administration and Theoretical Economics have been listed in the top tier. Currently, it has a total of 157 faculty members, including 2 Distinguished Professors of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, 9 National leading talents, 7 National Young Talents. The school achieved the AACSB Accreditation in 2013. NJUBS adheres to the philosophy that talents are the foundation of the school and places great importance on the development of its faculty body. It's one of the schools that pioneered the implementation of the annual salary system and tenure-track system at Nanjing University.

Job Description

NJUBS plans to recruit scholars who aspire to have a career in the fields of Economics and Management studies. The application is open to scholars from all over the world. There are vacancies for 3 (maximum) tenure-track assistant professors and 2 (maximum) tenure-track associate professors this year. Higher positions for particularly outstanding scholars are available and application will be considered individually. Specific fields of research open for recruitment are: 

  1. Theoretical Economics (including Development Economics, Digital Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Behavioral Economics, etc.) 
  2. International Trade 
  3. Finance (including International Finance, Green Finance, Digital Finance) 
  4. Industrial Economics 
  5. Population and Environmental Economics (Environmental and Health Economics, Population Mobility and Labor Economics) 
  6. Business Administration (including Strategic Management, International Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, Operations Management, etc.) 
  7. Accounting and Financial Management (including Corporate Finance) 
  8. Marketing, Electronic Commerce, Information Systems 
  9. Human Resource Management (including Strategic Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Organization Theory, and Corporate Social Responsibility)

Requirements

The applicant should:

  1. Abide by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, and have a passion for teaching and research;
  2. Abide by the ethics of teachers, uphold academic integrity, be willing to work diligently, and have no criminal record or record in breaching the ethics of teachers and/or academic integrity;
  3. Have a first-rate background in academic training—specifically, a PhD in relevant disciplines, experience in studying and/or working at first-rate teaching and research institutions, and knowledge of the latest international trends and development in the relevant research field(s);
  4. Have outstanding teaching abilities—the applicant should be able to teach core and frontline courses in the corresponding discipline, and have sound teaching methodology and strong verbal skills;
  5. Demonstrate outstanding research output and potential—the applicant should have publications in his/her field of research, original ideas about relevant fields of research, a clear vision about future research plans, and good potential for further academic development.

Remuneration

  1. An annual salary (to be worked out individually);
  2. A start-up fund for research;
  3. Qualification to supervise graduate students; 
  4. The university provides short-term lodging and housing subsidies. Applicants recruited can purchase commercial housing offered by the university at a special discount;
  5. The university provides assistance with children's schooling at primary and secondary school levels.
