We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join the Nuffield Department of Medicine. Working as part of the NDM Strategic team, and reporting to the Deputy Head of Facilities and Capital Projects, you will be responsible for supporting the development of building and refurbishment projects from feasibility studies, through to delivery of refurbishments, maintenance projects and new builds
In this role, you will be responsible for the the day-to-day management of multidisciplinary projects within NDM, working closely with external Senior Project Managers, Oxford University Estates Services, Building and Facilities Managers, and Business Managers. You will be responsible for supervising subcontractors, managing materials and deliveries, and coordinating operatives and plant to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Key responsibilities include chairing progress and safety meetings, identifying and managing risks, overseeing decanting and relocations, and proactively resolving challenges to maintain project momentum.
To be successful in this role, you will a strong background in facilities management within a scientific or research environment, and hold a relevant degree or professional qualification or significant industry experience,. You will have demonstrable experience managing large-scale refurbishments and a deep understanding of the infrastructure required for refurbishing within complex science, teaching, and research settings. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, supervise others when necessary, and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required to proactively identify and address challenges, while impeccable organisational skills will enable efficient management of multiple projects and stakeholders.
