Reporting to and working closely with the General Counsel and University Secretary and the Chair of the Board of Governors, the successful candidate will oversee the smooth running of University Governance, through the provision of a professional and comprehensive support and advisory service to the University’s Board of Governors. In a complex administrative, advisory and information management role, the Secretariat Manager will ensure Board business is managed within the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and in accordance with best practice. You should be able to demonstrate a deep understanding and have experience of carrying out the role and responsibilities of governance in HE or a similar organisation and the associated legal/compliance framework.
With outstanding interpersonal skills, the ideal candidate will adapt at building and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders with tact and diplomacy. You will also have exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to prepare high quality presentations and reports. High levels of self-confidence and resilience are essential, with the ability to advise, offer expert advice and (where appropriate) challenge.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will have excellent minute writing skills, paying meticulous attention to detail, and will demonstrate outstanding organisational skills to follow up action items. The role includes management of the University Polices to ensure good governance.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post
