The School of Computer Science is seeking to appoint two University Teachers. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related subject. You will have experience delivering high-quality teaching, ideally in Higher Education, and will be familiar with strategies that promote learning in an inclusive and supportive environment. A demonstrable ability to engage and inspire students is essential, along with excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
You will join our established Teaching Specialist team in the School of Computer Science, led by our Director of Education, Prof Emma Norling. The team includes Senior University Teachers, University Teachers, Teaching Associates, Research & Teaching Assistants, and Teaching Assistants. Known for high-quality teaching, assessment, and feedback, our Teaching Specialist team provides an excellent student experience. You will receive guidance and support to develop your teaching skills and contribute to maintaining and enhancing the School’s reputation for innovative and impactful teaching. Your role will involve teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The School offers three-year and four-year undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. We pride ourselves on innovative teaching methods, including enterprise-focused and problem-based learning. Additionally, we offer several masters programmes, including an MSc in Advanced Computer Science.

Half of our research outputs were judged to be world-leading. We ranked 8th in the UK for the quality of our research environment, with 70% of our impact deemed outstanding.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
The School of Computer Science has a strong record of supporting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. We currently have the highest proportion of female undergraduate and PhD students in our history. Our thriving Women in Computing Student Society and the Women+@DCS seminar group for researchers are further testaments to our inclusive culture.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme, and annual leave entitlement, alongside access to a range of learning and development opportunities to support your personal and professional growth.
