About the Role
Under the general direction of the Teaching Laboratories Manager, the Chemistry Teaching Technician will work alongside the Senior Chemistry Teaching Associate and our academic staff to provide an exemplary technical support service to our students.
The postholder will assist in the day-to-day support of the Chemistry Teaching Laboratories and in the preparation, setting up and day-to-day running of practical classes in the field of Chemistry. The postholder will supporting the Teaching Laboratories Manager and Senior Teaching Associate in the development of high-quality undergraduate chemistry programmes by providing technical advice to academic staff and provide advice, training and trouble-shooting services to all users of the chemistry teaching laboratories.
The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an expected start date of August 2025.
About You
The postholder will have a BSc degree in Chemistry/ a related Chemical Science or relevant work experience in a related laboratory technician role and relevant experience of laboratory-based teaching in higher or further education. Working knowledge of Health and Safety/COSHH regulations and an understanding of the implications of complying/not complying with health and safety and best practice is essential.

This post is based within the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences which has over 150 staff. The School forms one of five within the Faculty of Science and Engineering and consists of two distinct research departments: Chemistry and Physics & Astronomy, both delivering world-leading research and high-class teaching. The School is located on the Mile End Campus in the purpose-built Joseph Priestley and G.O. Jones Buildings. The School’s state of the art teaching and research laboratories and mechanical workshop facilities support a range of educational and research activities including those for external industrial partners.
