The UCL Arts and Sciences (UASc) department is home to the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc) the UK's leading interdisciplinary degree, covering arts, social sciences and sciences. BASc combines the breadth of interdisciplinary study across the arts and sciences with the opportunity to specialise in one or two key subject areas.

UASc also runs the Creative Health MASc, the Bachelor in Creative Arts and Humanities (BACAH) and the Interdisciplinary Societies, Arts and Sciences PhD programme.

We are looking for a Lecturer to develop teaching and research in the area of interdisciplinary politics and management. This role will contribute to the UASc Department and will have a focus on teaching on the BASc programmes, with particular attention to the Societies pathway, including acting as a Personal Tutor for up to 30 students. We are seeking a Lecturer who has experience in research and teaching in the area of politics and management, and who will contribute to our module portfolio (Level 5) and research, with a specific focus on interdisciplinarity including:

  • Global politics and management with a focus on the relationship between politics and business, and how they influence each other.
  • Political globalisation and social power.
  • Interdisciplinary education and research, integrating social sciences with rigorous methodology, and business management with an understanding of global political dynamics.

The postholder will co-convene BASC0001 Approaches to Knowledge: Introduction to Interdisciplinarity a compulsory module for first year BASc students, and will develop new modules linked to politics and management, based on the expertise of the postholder.

The postholder will contribute excellent research in interdisciplinary politics and management. The area of research should be interdisciplinary and related to a discipline or disciplines relevant to interdisciplinary politics and management. The postholder will be primarily associated with the BASc Societies pathway. The post holder will undertake personal tutoring and will help students to curate an individualised, coherent degree for them.

The postholder will be educated to Doctoral level in any interdisciplinary area relevant to interdisciplinary politics and management and have proven experience in research in interdisciplinary politics and management. Previous experience of teaching, research and engagement in a university department is essential, as is knowledge of the connection between scholarship, policy and practice.

The postholder will have the ability to share in the organisation and management of research programmes in interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary politics and management. A proven ability to mentor students and excellent communication skills are also essential.

The post is based at the Bloomsbury campus but travel to the UCL East campus may be required.
