This post will be based in the UCL Arts and Sciences (UASc) department, which is located at both Bloomsbury and UCL East. UCL Arts and Science (UASc) is the leading interdisciplinary studies department in the UK, bringing together staff and students across arts and humanities, social sciences and sciences.

UASc oversees the BA in Creative Arts and Humanities (BACAH) located at UCL East. This programme leads a new generation of humanities teaching that combines critical humanities scholarship with arts practice in three main areas: writing, moving image and performance. UASc also oversees the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc), the Masters in Arts and Sciences in Creative Health and the Interdisciplinary Societies, Arts and Sciences PhD programme.

We are seeking a Lecturer to undertake creative and collaborative practice for the creative and cultural industries. The creative and cultural industries may include advertising, craft, design, digital media and games creation, film and television, museums, galleries, and libraries, music, theatre and the performing arts, writing and publishing, and the visual arts. The postholder’s teaching and research will combine practitioner expertise with applied knowledge of the creative and cultural industries or other sectors that put the expanded arts and humanities to use. The postholder may have expertise in an applied practice such as facilitation or community organising, or alternatively industry-based experience. We are particularly interested in knowledge and practices of the Global South, as well as decolonial approaches to research and teaching.

We expect the postholder to lead a number of modules, with responsibility for two trans-disciplinary modules taught in years 2 and 3 of the BACAH: The Collaborative Economy and The Creative Professional. The post holder will also act as a Personal Tutor.

The postholder will contribute excellent research in creative arts and humanities with specialisms in creative and collaborative practice and the creative and cultural industries.

The postholder will be educated to Doctoral level or have equivalent professional experience in any area relevant to interdisciplinary creative arts and humanities, in particular creative and collaborative practice for the creative and cultural industries. Previous experience in teaching creative and collaborative practice for the creative and cultural industries and in relevant curriculum development is essential.

The postholder will have proven experience in research in creative arts and humanities with specialisms in creative and collaborative practice and the creative and cultural industries. A proven ability to mentor students, including advising on module choices, and excellent communication skills are also essential.

The post is based at the UCL East campus but travel to the main Bloomsbury campus may be required.
