Research Department of Behavioural Science and Health (BSH)
BSH is a world leading multi-disciplinary research department that conducts timely, rigorous and independent research with sound statistical methods into a better understanding of health and the prevention of ill health. This position will be in the Research into Eating, ACtivity and Health (REACH) group, focused on understanding active play and associations with health outcomes in UK preschool-aged children.
About the role
The project aims to understand which population groups might benefit most from AP interventions; identify existing (successful) interventions that support preschoolers’ AP; and understand priorities and perspectives of key stakeholders. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of children’s epidemiological research and be expected to take day-to-day responsibility for delivering WP1 and WP2. This will involve undertaking advanced quantitative data analysis, including using longitudinal and routinely collected data; conducting screening, data extraction and synthesis of systematic review evidence; and writing relevant research papers.

About you
You will have a PhD in epidemiology, behavioural science or related subject, expertise in advanced quantitative methods and one or more of the following areas: physical activity behaviour; play behaviour; children’s health research (including obesity and/or mental health. You should have a high quality relevant publication portfolio, and evidence of undertaking research into children’s health behaviour. You will have experience of undertaking systematic reviews and planning and undertaking advance quantitative research and analysis. You should be able to work with stakeholders from different disciplines and with policy makers.
