Description:

Lay and Architect Members – Accreditation Visitor

The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the is the statutory regulator of architects in the UK, under the terms of the Architects Act 1997. The Act requires the Board to ensure only those who are suitably competent are allowed to practise as architects. We do this by approving and reviewing the architecture qualifications required to join the Register of architects by a specific Accreditation model. The role of an Accreditation Visitor is to support the Accreditation team (the Executive) with external and specialist insight to ensure qualifications assure the delivery of the required outcomes and Standards for Providers have been, and continue to be, met. Accreditation Visitors support the Executive in making recommendations on accreditation applications and reviews to enable the Accreditation Committee to make decisions.

We are looking for a pool of Visitors made up of architectural academics / architects and non-architects (lay) who will engage and support ARB’s accreditation work, which will include both desk-based reviews of documentation and institution visits / meetings (both online and in-person). Architects must be registered with ARB.

As part of your supporting statement, please cover the following points:

  • Provide a summary explaining why you are applying for this role and what you think makes you a suitable candidate, thinking about the impact you feel you could make.
  • Provide an example when you have critically analysed and made a proportionate and evidenced based decision, to align to set standards working within the context of either quality assurance process or a field of regulation.
  • Illustration of working with others to reach a solution where there was a range of differing opinions, thinking about your contribution and impact.

The closing date is 17th March 2025. We will contact you once short-listing has been completed to advise you of the outcome of your application by no later than 3rd April 2025.

We anticipate interviews will take place on 7th April to 18th April 2025.

We look forward to hearing from you.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds and under-represented groups. ARB embraces differences of colleagues and those that work with us and celebrate diversity. Such candidates often only apply for roles they believe they are a perfect match for, but at ARB it’s your attitude and desire to build upon your existing knowledge and skills that matter most, so please do apply even if you feel you don’t tick every box.

No agencies please.
