Project Overview

Aurrigo’s KTP project aims to create an advanced, decentralized software platform for optimizing fleet management in airport baggage and cargo-handling autonomous vehicles (AVs). The project will move from human-controlled systems to autonomous command and control, using multi-agent systems, federated learning, and game theory to develop decentralized algorithms. This will enhance task delegation, planning, and coordination among AVs with minimal communication, improving efficiency, resilience, and scalability while reducing human intervention.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Computer Science, AI, or a related field. Essential skills include:

  • Strong understanding of machine learning, especially deep and federated learning for autonomous systems.
  • Expertise in multi-agent systems and decentralized coordination.
  • Experience with complex system simulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and independent research capabilities.
  • Project management skills, familiar with Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB.

Desirable Skills

  • Industrial experience with autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Knowledge of Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes (POMDPs) and their decentralized applications.
  • Familiarity with Game Theory and Federated Learning.

Main Responsibilities

  • Research and develop machine learning algorithms for AV control and coordination.
  • Apply multi-agent systems to enhance decision-making and task delegation.
  • Integrate and test algorithms within Aurrigo’s systems.
  • Evaluate performance through simulation and real-world testing.
  • Contribute to reporting, dissemination, and collaboration with academic and industry partners.
  • Support project management and adapt to changing priorities.

Location and Travel

You will be based at Aurrigo in Coventry but will also have access to Aston University facilities in Birmingham. Some travel to Birmingham and client sites may be required.
