The opportunity
Are you a talented, creative individual with skills in metalwork, digital fabrication, and woodwork? We are looking for a Specialist Technician to provide essential workshop support to students at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Art.
As a Specialist Technician, you will help students build puppets, props, costumes, sets and more, drawing on your strong professional expertise to deliver support for student learning, informal and formal training and instruction.
In addition to this, you will assume responsibility for and oversee the daily running of specific areas and facilities within the College, ensuring the safe and effective use of equipment and facilities in these areas. Our workshops are equipped to make almost anything, and we are always adapting to make room for new techniques.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to further your skills and experience at a leading arts institution, whilst working with a well-established team, who all have a broad range of knowledge and their own specialisms.
About you
You will be a brilliant maker and an excellent teacher, who can adapt on the spot to a specific student need or design brief.
You will possess a BA in a relevant field AND/OR have extensive experience in a professional commercial enterprise which relates to fabrication, sculpture, costume, puppetry or props.
Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills are essential for success in this role, including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students.
