The University of Law is committed to preparing students for their careers, offering an outstanding Employability Service that supports students in their job search and long-term professional development. Our Careers Consultants play a vital role in delivering high-quality services that cater to a diverse student body with varied career aspirations. 

We are looking for a Careers Consultant to join our dynamic team, delivering high-quality careers guidance, workshops, and employer engagement initiatives for our diverse student community. 

This is a permanent role, working 21 hours per week working on a hybrid basis, where you will work two days per week at our Leeds campus and one day working from home.  There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to our satellite campuses in the North East. 

As our Careers Consultant, you will: 

  • Deliver a range of careers services including one-to-one guidance, employability workshops, and mentoring schemes. 
  • Support student employability through CV reviews, application advice, and interview coaching.
  • Organise and contribute to open days, employer talks, and networking events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, alumni, and professional organisations. 
  • Contribute to national employability projects and initiatives that enhance student career outcomes. 

Is this you?: 

  • Experience in Higher Education careers counselling and guidance or similar advisory work or experience of professional legal recruitment or the legal sector 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds 
  • Knowledge of legal and professional career pathways is desirable 
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with students, colleagues and employers
