Research Assistant/Associate

This post is full time, and has funding for up to 15 months

The School of Computing Science is looking for a Research Assistant/Associate to contribute to/make a leading contribution to the project “Chemobots”, working with Dr Gerardo Aragon-Camarasa. The job requires knowledge of robotics, teleoperation, additive manufacturing and robot simulators to achieve the following objectives:

• To design and develop a bespoke modular robotic arm.
• To interface a robotic arm to downstream tasks using a digital twin such as deformable object manipulation.

The successful candidate will be part of the Computing Vision and Autonomous Systems group at the School of Computing Science. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals and help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

To be considered for an appointment at Grade 7, you must be able to perform the duties as listed for a Research Assistant position with a higher degree of independence, leadership, and responsibility, particularly in relation to planning, funding, collaborating and publishing research, and mentoring colleagues.  You must also have a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) with at least 2 years’ post-doctoral experience in a similar or related role(s), or alternatively possess the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience.
